Detailed Itinerary: 16-Day Luxury Safari Itinerary (Southern + Eastern Africa)

Day 1: Arrival in Zimbabwe and transfer to the hotel with a Zambezi sundowner.

Upon arrival, our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up, take you through your 16-Day Luxury Safari, and transfer you to Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will go for the Zambezi sundowner cruise.

Day 2: Morning Victoria Falls tour and afternoon helicopter tour.

After breakfast, you will head out to explore the Victoria Falls on a 2-hour walking tour. While on this tour, you will discover one of the world’s most magnificent waterfalls. Victoria Falls is listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. After the walk to the top of the falls, you will head back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, the guide will take you to the skies on a helicopter flight. Admire the views and look out for rainbows.

Day 3: Botswana day trip

You will spend the whole of this day exploring the beauties of Botswana with a boat cruise and game drive in search of animals.

Day 4: Transfer to the airport for the flight to Nairobi

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and continue with your 16-Day Luxury Safari, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to the Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel with beautiful views.

Day 6: Transfer to Masai Mara with a game drive.

Picked from the hotel at 7:30 am after breakfast for a drive South with a stopover at the Rift Valley viewpoint for pictures. Proceed to the area where the Camps representative will be waiting for you. After the vehicle transfer, proceed to the camp with a mini game drive.

Get to the camp, and after lunch and some relaxation, proceed for an afternoon game drive at the Olare Motorogi Conservancy.

Day 7: Morning and evening game drive.

Morning and afternoon game drives, and in between, you can have guided bush/nature walks.

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up with a packed lunch for a full day exploring the Mara plains. In the evening, he will take you back to the camp for the night.

Day 9: Transfer to the airport for the flight to Kigali

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your mid-morning flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Nairobi, you will board your flight to Kigali International Airport. Upon arrival at Kigali, you will be transferred to the hotel for relaxation, just another amazing experience ahead on your 16-Day Luxury Safari

Day 10: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where you will check in at the gorilla lodge upon arrival. You will have lunch and then proceed to the Ellen DE Generous by Dian Fossey Museum for virtual gorilla trekking.

Day 11: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes & Ibwiwachu visit

On this day, you will have a great time meeting the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park! After a tasty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the lodge. You will head for a briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and 8:30 am with a packed lunch. You will start the trek to hunt for the gorillas, and after finding them, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take 4-5 hours, depending on where you meet the gorillas. The park is steep; it is a real hike, and being physically fit is recommended. After lunch, you will be taken to the Ibwiwachu community, the gorilla guidance community. This afternoon, you will visit the Ibwiwachu community where you will be introduced to the traditional Rwanda through traditional dances, poems, dress codes, among others.

Day 12: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Kigali

After breakfast, you will proceed to the park briefing point for a simple briefing about the dos and don’ts of golden monkey trekking. This will take us through the edges of the forest via potato fields, and the briefing will be conducted in the same place where the usual Kinigi park office is located. This means the trek will take us 3-4 hours. After the trek, we shall return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kigali.

Day 13: Fly to Zanzibar

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali International Airport for the flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar, you will be transferred to the hotel for relaxation.

Day 14: Full day at leisure

As you continue with your 16-Day Luxury Safari adventure, on this day, you will take part in the hotel’s in-house games and activities such as relaxing at the beach, swimming, gyming, and massage.
