The 10-day Southern Africa exploration trip begins in Kasane and concludes in Lusaka. You will take a sunset supper cruise on the Zambezi River while you are visiting Victoria Falls. While enjoying cocktails, the cruise will descend to the River Zambezi, where you may observe crocodiles, hippos, and other wildlife. The greatest way to see Victoria Falls from above is to take a helicopter ride across them.

The journey will proceed to Chobe National Park, where you will enjoy a picturesque boat ride on the Chobe River for two to three hours. Seeing wildlife from a riverboat on the Chobe is one of the best experiences. Additionally, you will go on a game drive, which will give you the chance to see wild dogs and large cats.

Lastly, the journey will lead you to Kafue National Park, where you can expect to witness large herbivores like elephants and buffaloes as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and even wild dogs.

Detailed Itinerary: Southern Africa’s Best 10-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kasane International Airport.

Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by our English-speaking guide. He will briefly take you through the trip and then transfer you to the hotel for relaxation, overnight stay, and dinner.

Day 2: Walk to the falls and sunset cruise on the river Zambezi

After breakfast, you will head out to explore Victoria Falls on a 2-hour walking tour.  While on this tour, you will discover one of the world’s most magnificent waterfalls. Victoria Falls is listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. After the walk to the top of the falls, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for the sunset dinner cruise along river Zambezi. The cruise will go down to River Zambezi so you will likely see hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife while having cocktails. After the sunset cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Cross to Victoria Falls Zimbabwe side with a walk to the falls

After breakfast, you will cross to Victoria Falls Zimbabwe side for the walk to the falls. During this walk, you will head out to explore the Victoria Falls on a 2-hour walking tour.  While on this tour, you will discover one of the world’s most magnificent waterfalls. After the walk to the falls, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation in preparation for the Boma food cuisine festival in the evening.

During the Boma food cuisine festival, you will experience the essence of Africa. You will enjoy the mouth-watering feast featuring Zimbabwean specialties like game meats and hearty stews. The adventurous eater can also dive into some Mopani worms. While dining under the stars in a lively atmosphere, you will feel the rhythm of African drums beating in the air.

Interactive drumming sessions allow you to participate in the music and dance, so if you feel up to it, you can join in the fun. This event gives you a captivating and unforgettable flavor of African customs and entertainment by fusing food, music, and culture.

Day 4: Helicopter tour & evening boma food cuisine festival

Have breakfast and have the morning at leisure and take part in the hotel’s house games like swimming. In the afternoon after lunch, you will go for the Victoria Falls helicopter flight which is the best way to view Victoria Falls from the sky. You will be flying over Long Island on the upper Zambezi upstream from the falls, towards the Zambezi NP, home to a wide variety of wildlife. This is a wonderful opportunity to see wildlife from the air, as well as up and down the river. Elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, giraffes, kudus, and many other animals may be spotted as we return to the helipad. After the helicopter tour, you will return to the lodge for relaxation.

You will attend the Boma food and cuisine festival in the evening, where you will be able to taste the true spirit of Africa. The delectable meal, which includes Zimbabwean delicacies like game meats and substantial stews, will delight you. Mopani worms are another treat for the daring diner. You will be able to hear the pounding of African drums while dining in a vibrant setting beneath the stars.

Day 5: Drive to Chobe with a game drive and sunset boat cruise

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Chobe National Park. The distance from Livingstone to Chobe National Park is 60 kilometers. Upon arrival at the park, you will go for a mid-morning game drive. Big cats and wild canines are more likely to be sighted around this time of day because they are still active and out and about. After the game drive, you will have lunch in preparation for your sunset boat cruise.

In the afternoon, you will be driven to the docking point to board the boat and start the 3-hour sunset boat cruise into the Chobe National Park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip as the clients get the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic bird life, hippos, crocodiles, and of course scores of elephants and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Game drive at Chobe National Park

Have the morning at leisure and take part in hotel in-house activities like swimming. After lunch, you will embark on the afternoon game drive. You will take our specially adapted open 4X4 vehicles. Drives are along the waterfront where animals assemble to quench their thirst. Commonly sighted animals are elephants, buffaloes, eland and elephants. Leopards are more difficult to see but if lucky, you can see them. This is a unique chance to experience some of the best game viewing in Africa.

Day 7: Transfer to the airport for Lusaka.

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to the airport for the flight to Lusaka. Upon arrival at Lusaka, you will be met and greeted by our English-speaking driver guide. He will take you through the trip plan and then transfer you to the hotel for relaxation, overnight stay, and dinner.

Day 8: Lusaka city tour & transfer to river Kafunta

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to the city center for the city tour. The city tour will take you to attractions like the Lusaka Museum, First Republic President’s House, Old Town, State House, Memorial Park, and religious buildings among others. After the city tour, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kafue National Park arriving in the evening.

Day 9: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast, you will head out for a morning game drive to see some of Kafue National Park‘s best wildlife animals such as antelopes, elephants, zebras, and lions. Rare species to look out for include red lechwe, sable, and the African wild dogs, as well as the elusive cheetah.

Watch hippos splashing in Lake Itezhi-Tezhi and look to the skies to see the various bird species that live in the trees around the Busanga Swamp, such as African finfoot, half-collard kingfisher, and African skimmer. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation in preparation for the afternoon boat cruise.

In the afternoon, you will go on the sunset boat cruise on the Kafue River to sight some animals as you enjoy the breathtaking sunset views.
