Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our professional driver guide who will take you through your trip plan. He will then transfer you to Volcanoes National Park where you will check in at the lodge upon arrival. Relax with a hearty dinner, stunning views, and a fireside ambiance as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali.

Days Highlights

• Early Morning: After a hearty breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and assignments to a gorilla family group.
• Mid-Morning: Venture into the dense forest guided by expert trackers. Enjoy the thrill of hiking through misty trails until you encounter the gorillas. Spend an awe-inspiring hour observing their behaviors, from playful juveniles to nurturing mothers and the mighty silverback.
• Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch and a quick refresh before heading back to Kigali. Optionally, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to reflect on Rwanda’s resilience and history before your departure.

On this day, you will have a great time encountering the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park! After a tasty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point for a briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and 8:30 am about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. With a packed lunch, you will start the trek to track the gorillas and after locating them, you will only spend a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take approximately 4-5 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night. After Gorilla Trekking, you will have lunch and then return to Kigali for your flight back home.
