Detailed Itinerary: 6 Days Congo Luxury Gorilla Trekking

Day 1: Arrival in Goma & Transfer to Virunga

Arrive in Goma, DRC, and transfer to Mikeno Lodge in Virunga National Park. Enjoy an evening at the lodge, with a gourmet dinner and a briefing on your upcoming adventures.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for your gorilla trek in Virunga National Park. Spend time with one of the park’s habituated gorilla families before returning to Mikeno Lodge for lunch. The afternoon is free to explore the lodge grounds or visit the Senkwekwe Gorilla Orphanage.

Day 3: Explore Virunga & Visit Local Communities

Take a guided tour of the park’s diverse ecosystems, including its savannahs and forests. Visit nearby communities to learn about local conservation efforts and the impact of gorilla tourism.

Day 4: Nyiragongo Volcano Hike

Embark on a challenging hike up Mount Nyiragongo, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Spend the night at the summit in comfortable cabins, with an incredible view of the lava lake below.

Day 5: Descend Nyiragongo & Return to Mikeno Lodge

After sunrise at the summit, begin your descent. Return to Mikeno Lodge for a relaxing afternoon, with optional massages or a nature walk.

Day 6: Transfer to Goma & Departure

After breakfast, transfer back to Goma. Enjoy some leisure time in the city before your departure flight.
