Detailed Itinerary: 4 Days Gorillas And Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park – Bukavu, Congo

After finalizing your breakfast at the hotel, your driver/guide will transfer you to the Bukavu in DR Congo. The journey will take you through the winding roads of Rwanda, the country of a thousand hills. You will arrive in Bukavu later that evening with short stops for stretching and a picnic lunch.

Day 2: Lowland Gorilla trekking

The Jimjam safari driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the park headquarters for the briefing before you can start the lowland gorilla trek. The experience takes anything from 1 hour to several before locating them depending on where they nested. Once you locate them, you have 1 hour in their presence before you leave. Depending on the time you locate the gorillas, they could be feeding or resting which is the best time for photography.

Day 3: Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary

This sanctuary takes care of chimpanzees and different species of monkeys, parrots, and turtles that have been rescued from poachers who capture them for the animal pet trade. You will spend time at the sanctuary learning more about the different animal species and their behavior.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali

After breakfast, your driver’s guide will pick you up and transfer you back to Kigali. Enjoy the winding roads of Rwanda for your flight back home.
