The 7 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari starts and ends in Entebbe. During the 7 days of this trip, you will explore 2 of Uganda’s primate national parks and Savannah National Park. The trip will take you to Kibale Forest National Park which is famously known as the primate capital and while there, you will do chimpanzee trekking. The trip will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is Uganda’s most visited national park. Queen Elizabeth was named after the late Queen Elizabeth in commemoration of her visit to Uganda. While there, you will take part in the game drive and boat cruise. Finally, the trip will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for single gorilla trekking. While at Bwindi, you will have fun meeting the mountain gorillas that share 99% of DNA with humans.

Detailed itinerary: 7 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by your English-speaking driver guide who will briefly take you through the trip plan. He will then transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: 2 friends Entebbe (Midrange)/ Via Via Entebbe (Budget)

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for the transfer to Kibale Forest National Park with an en-route lunch. Kibale is famously known as the primate capital and the transfer to Kibale Forest National Park takes approximately 6 hours. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in at the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay as you contemplate the chimpanzee trekking adventure that lies ahead of you.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth.

Arise very early and head to Kanyanchu with a packed lunch to embark on the chimpanzee trek in the Kibale forest. Chimpanzees are considered to be the closest relatives of human beings and they share 98% of their DNA with that of human beings. As you continue with the search for these beautiful chimps, you will view many other primate and animal species including the LHoests monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, bush babies, and many bird species including yellow-spotted nictor, ramped tinker, crowned eagle, as well as the elephants which are mammals.

Immediately after the long trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and after lunch, you will check out of the lodge for your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise.

Arise early enough and after breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive where you will see various animals like elephants, elands, antelopes, buffaloes, and lions among others. After having your lunch at the lodge, you will transfer to Ishasha to see the famous tree-climbing lions which can only be sighted at Queen Elizabeth in the Ishasha sector. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will do the afternoon set out for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel where you will see various animals like crocodiles, hippos, water bucks, and buffaloes as well as birds like storks, and kingfishers among others.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi NP with a game drive in Ishasha

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Ishasha is famously known for its tree-climbing lions with the chance of spotting these lions being about is 70% though sometimes they are hard to spot.

Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population) including several habituated groups, which you will trek. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in your accommodation, and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking

On this day, you will have a great time encountering the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park! After a tasty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point for a briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and 8:30 am about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. With a packed lunch, you will start the trek to track the gorillas and after locating them, you will only spend a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take approximately 4-5 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night.

Day 7: Transfer back to Entebbe.

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for your transfer back to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
