Biography
Yoweri Museveni is the current President of the Republic of Uganda (The Pearl Of Africa) born in 1944 in Mbarra district, Uganda. Museveni is credited with stabilizing Uganda (Peace) and overseeing the economic growth of the Country. He is a prominent Ugandan politician, military officer, and revolutionary leader.

Museveni comes from a family of cattle farmers and received his education in Uganda missionary schools. While studying political science and economics at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, he became involved with student groups aligned with African liberation movements as he had a lot of passion for politics and transformation.
When Idi Amin seized power in Uganda in 1971, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni went into exile in Tanzania. There, he founded the Front for National Salvation to fight for peace and prosperity of citizens in Uganda.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM):
Museveni, along with former president Yusufu Lule, established the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after the 1980 Ugandan elections, which were widely believed to be rigged. The NRM had the objective of making Uganda a better place for all local and foreign nationals.
Leading the NRM’s armed group, the National Resistance Army, Museveni waged a guerrilla war against President Milton Obote’s government. The resistance ultimately succeeded, and on January 26, 1986, Museveni declared himself President of Uganda the Pearl Of Africa. The journey to Uganda’s transformation started hence leading to several actions in all sectors of the country.

Museveni was elected to the presidency in 1996 and subsequently reelected in 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021
His presidency brought political stability, economic growth, and infrastructure development to Uganda. Museveni implemented capitalist reforms and supported press freedom across the country. He also created a strong bond with foreign elites who could come and invest in Uganda to curb the problem of unemployment and hence foster economic growth.
