This 11-day Gorilla trekking, Serengeti wildlife, and Zanzibar beach safari starts in Kigali and ends in Zanzibar. The trip will take you to Volcanoes National Park and while there, you will have fun meeting the mountain gorillas that share 99% of DNA with humans. During the gorilla trek, you will have a great time meeting the gentle giants. While on this tour, you will go to Golden Monkey trekking. This trip will also offer you an opportunity to explore Kigali city with a city tour which will include visiting the genocide memorial and the Belgium museum. On the sixth day of the adventure, you will proceed to Serengeti National Park where you will have a great time meeting the wild beast and wildlife. Finally, this adventure will take you to Zanzibar where you will take part in water activities and also enjoy the beach life.

Detailed Itinerary: 11 Days Gorilla Trekking, Serengeti And Zanzibar

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel

Welcome to Rwanda! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our professional driver guide. He will take you through the trip plan and then transfer you to the hotel for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

At 7:00 am you will have breakfast and transfer to Kigali for the city tour. You will visit Ntarama church where you will learn more about the 1994 genocide memorial. From Nyamata church, crown the genocide history with a visit to the Gisozi genocide memorial museum where you will learn more about the history of genocide memorial and how it went throughout the country. After lunch, you will visit the firehouse which is the area where the plane that was carrying President Habyarima was brought down, that late sparked the famous 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will then visit the Belgium Museum and learn more about Rwanda’s culture. After the city tour, you will have lunch and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Cultural tour

On this day, you will have a great time encountering the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park! After a tasty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point for a briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and 8:30 am about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. With a packed lunch, you will start the trek to track the gorillas and after locating them, you will only spend a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take approximately 4-5 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night.

After the trek, you hike back out of the park for lunch. After lunch, you will be taken to the Ibwiwachu community the gorilla guidance community. This afternoon you will visit the Ibwiwachu community where you will be introduced to traditional Rwanda through traditional; dances, poems, and dressing codes among others.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking

This will take us through the edges of the forest via potato fields and the briefing will be conducted in the same place where the usual Kinigi park office is located this means the trekking will take us 3-4 hours after the trekking, we shall return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred back to Kigali in preparation for your flight the following day.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali for the flight.

Depending on your flight schedule, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to the airport for your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti national park

After breakfast, the driver guide will transfer you to Serengeti National Park with short stopovers. If you are fortunate enough, you may experience the odd animal on the route because we pass via the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania’s oldest and most frequently visited national park and also a world heritage site which was recently branded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Serengeti National Park is celebrated for the yearly migration of the herds and the ever-growing wildlife population. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the kopjes (rock outcropping). Our game drive will set off further into the park. After the game drive, we will proceed to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Full-day game drive

After an early breakfast, with the help of your guide, you will depart for a full-day game drive and explore the majestic Serengeti.

The day will start in the center of the majestic Serengeti. Since we have a full-day game drive, you will probably see hundreds of the different animals that are harbored by the Serengeti’s endless plains. This day will probably offer you sightings of the African mammals that make the park famous- lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, and water buffalo, all within a few feet of the jeep. Visitors will also have the chance to view some of the park’s lesser-known, but equally majestic animals including, elands, hyenas, gazelles, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, and antelope.

Depending on the time of year, visitors will also have the chance to view thousands of zebras and wildebeest on their Great Migration. The hundreds of bird species, both endemic and migrating from the Eurasian region, are a special bonus for bird-watchers. Guests will enjoy a fresh and delicious dinner, at another spot well-known for animal sightings. After the game drives, you will be driven back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Zanzibar

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar for the memorable beach life. Upon arrival at Zanzibar, you will check in at the lodge with the beautiful views.

Day 9: Spice farm and Jozani forest trip

Today you go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone Town for the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in-depth information not only about spices, but also about organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics, and cooking. After the tour, we invite you for an opulent lunch at our guides’ home, where you can taste the spices and fruits. After experiencing all about the spice tour you will be back at the hotel for your hot lunch.
on the way you pass Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide, you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. If you wish you can even wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

Day 10: Prison Island, Nakupenda Beach, and Stone Town visit

After breakfast, you will proceed to the prison Island. While at the prison island, you will able to see Aldabra Giant Tortoise and Peacocks among others. After the prison island visit, you will proceed to Nakupenda Beach. Nakupenda Beach got its name from a Sand Bank that is located near the Stone. At Nakupenda Beach, you will Town, swim, and do Snorkelling. It is one of the best beaches in Zanzibar with the best seafood.

After lunch, you will be taken to the stone town which is well known for its architecture. Stone town is one of the oldest cities in Africa and it is the former trading destination in East Africa. During this tour, you will explore the stone insights and city which will include the Anglican Cathedral, former slave market, Zanzibar National Museum, and the old fort among others. After a day full of adventure, you will be transferred back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
