This 5-day Uganda gorillas and Akagera wildlife safari starts and ends in Kigali. It will take you to Akagera National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah national park (Akagera National Park). You will do an afternoon boat cruise and a morning game drive during the trip. Akagera National Park is home to animals such as Elephants, Hippos, Buffaloes, Lions, Zebras, Giraffes, and Impalas.

The trip will continue to Bwindi’s impenetrable national park which has half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. While at Bwindi’s impenetrable national park, you will have a wonderful time meeting the mountain gorillas that share 99% of DNA with humans. You will have a great time meeting the gentle giants during the gorilla trek.

Detailed Itinerary: 5 Days Akagera Safari And Uganda Gorillas

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera National Park.

Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by your English-speaking driver guide. He will briefly take you through the trip plan and then transfer you to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for relaxation, overnight stay, and dinner.

Accommodation: Ruzizi tented camp (Midrange)/ Dereva hotel (Budget)

Meal plan: Full board.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Akagera National Park is a Savannah park with Elephants, Hippos, Buffaloes, and Lions. After an early breakfast, we take a game drive in search of these animals, the game drive will take us to the northern part of the park where most of the animals prefer to inhabit. Look out for the Zebras, Giraffes, and Impalas which are usually scattered along the game tracks. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. After lunch, you will take a boat safari on Lake Ihema for a beautiful mid-morning breeze and some sightings of birds and wildlife.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will check in at the lodge and cross the Cyanika border for transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The transfer from Akagera National Park to Bwindi impenetrable takes approximately 9 hours so on this day, expect no activity. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for relaxation, overnight stay, and dinner.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa community tour.

With well well-prepared packed lunch, you will assemble for briefing time at 8:00 am. During the briefing, you will learn more about the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking. It is at the briefing point where you will find the rangers who will inform you about gorilla tracking the great adventure and experience! The time taken to encounter these peaceful primates is impulsive for it may take 1-5 hours. Nevertheless, on encounter, one may be forced to say, it is stunning!!!! After the adventure certificate rewards will be successfully given out to every trekker. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for relaxation.
