Detailed Itinerary: 7 Days Burundi Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Bujumbura International Airport and transfer to Bujumbura for a city tour

Upon arrival, our professional driver guide will pick you up from Bujumbura International Airport and transfer you to the leading city in Burundi for a city tour, you will be able to visit different architectural buildings such as Bauhaus style of architecture (German-style of arts) and military stations which were built by the Germans early 20th Century, visit the meeting place between Burton Speke and Livingston, monuments of heroes of independence and later transfer to the hotel for overnight at Safari Gate Hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Kibira National Park and Traite de Kiganda

After breakfast, you will depart for historical exploration and visit Kiganda royal grounds, one of the historical sanctuaries containing all the details about signing the Treaty between the Germans and King Mwezi Gisabo, the traditional ruler during that colonial era. you will enjoy the Nature walk in Kibira Forest National Park which inhabits 12 primate species such as chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys like red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and vervet monkeys among others, 98 mammal species, and about 200 bird species, while on a walk you will be able to see primates and a variety of bird species and Visit of Teza Tea Plantations, you will later transfer to Tropitel Hotel for overnight

Day 3: Transfer to Gishora drum sanctuary, Gitega National Museum

After breakfast, you will embark on your vehicle and depart for the famous Gishora drummer’s visit. Gishora Drum Sanctuary is one of the renowned drum sites in Burundi for a cultural experience. Drumming and entertainment portray the political power of the monarchy in the ancient regimes. These were the special occasions that were held by specialized families called “Abatimbo” in the vital places announcing the great events of the country such as the funerals of the kings, royal enthronement, the sowing festival and this gave the rhythm of the regular seasons, It is one of the cultural sites to see when on tour in Burundi. Day 4: Karera Waterfalls visit

After a delicious Breakfast, you will depart for the magnificent Karera waterfalls and visit one of the most stunning tourist spots in Burundi. Karera Waterfalls, well known as the Chutes de la Karera, is a collective name attributed to four waterfalls found in Burundi, in the province of Rutana. The site is one of the destinations you should not miss on your tour in Burundi. This is one of the four spectacular waterfalls you reach first when you get there, and it has enough space for parking your car. Upstream from this is often the tiniest of the four falls, Nyakai II, a perfect spot where you can have an unpremeditated shower. This watercourse is linked to that of Mwaro Falls before creating the namesake and tallest waterfall within the area. They are approximately 70 m tall and are one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Burundi. You will later drive to the East African Safari Hotel for an Overnight

Day 5: Kigwena Forest Reserve

You will transfer for the activities of the day that include the Nature Walk, Visit Muhweza Hotsprings, and Rumonge National Reserve. Later, after breakfast, you will visit the fishing village and the Burton-Speke Memorial in Nyanza-Lac and transfer to Rumonge to visit the Rumonge Natural Reserve for monkey trekking and bird watching. Continue to Muhweza hot springs. You will later transfer to Tanganyika Blue Bay Resort for relaxation, followed by dinner and overnight

Day 6: Source of the Nile Visit

After breakfast, you will embark on your vehicle and depart for the Source of the Nile visit, visit the Source of the River Nile at Rutovu will offer you a chance to spot wildlife along the river bank such as crocodiles, hippopotamus, a variety of bird species, you will have an experience of a lifetime there, and later you will drive to Safari Gate Hotel in Bujumbura for overnight

Day 7: Transfer to Rusizi National Park

On the last Day, you will transfer to Rusizi National Park where a boat trip is possible to let you explore closer the hippos and birds in Rusizi River; the Explorers Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers Livingstone & Stanley; Independence hero mausoleum & Unity monument, Belvedere Hill offering a nice of Lake Tanganyika and the city. Lunch and transfer to the airport. Later, visit the Livingstone-Stanley Monument, visit the meeting point between the two British explorers: Stanley and Mausolee du Prince Louis Rwagasore. Visit the Independence Hero Monument, Prince Louis Rwagasore, and Le Monument de l’Unité. You will later transfer to Bujumbura International Airport for your late evening flight back home
